Settling In At Preschool 

Starting at a new preschool can be scary when you are very young. We help children settle in by building their hours gradually, allowing them to get to know us and trust us, and enjoy coming to Riverside Playschool.

The Settling In Plan:

Once staff are satisfied that children are settled at each stage, they can move on to the next.

1. One hour settling session (9am-10am)
2. Two hour settling session (9am-11am)
3. Morning Session (9am-12pm)
4. Can add Lunch if able to sit and eat snack safely at the table (12-12:30pm)
5. Can add afternoons if settled through Lunch (12:30-3pm)

Funded Children:
Snack costs £1 per session, or you can provide your own snack instead, in a box with your child's name on it. We ask for a £10 contribution from funded families to cover the cost of craft supplies as this is not covered by the funding. Find out more about funding here

All Children:
Every day your child needs to bring:

• a bag with your child's name on it, with a full change of clothes, including shoes.
• nappies, wipes, nappy sacks etc if needed,
• a named water bottle, filled with water
• a suitable coat or hoodie/cardigan etc for playing outside, depending on the weather.
• if staying for lunch, bring a packed lunch in a named lunchbox

We will email you an invoice for any fees. This must be paid before your child can start preschool.

Dress your child in comfortable clothes, that are easy for them to take on and off by themselves when using the toilet. They should wear something that can get painty or muddy. We'd suggest jogging bottoms, leggings or similar, with a comfortable top. If you'd like to order optional uniform, click here: Riverside Playschool
